What we got up to for our 35th Anniversary
Saturday 20th June saw us host our spectacular 35th Anniversary celebration event at West Midlands Safari Park. Over 950 guests including the drpteam, friends and clients attended the day and night extravaganza, complete with park tours, workshops, gala dinner, a showcase finale including live production show, choir, fireworks and production to rival the main stage at Glastonbury. The team at drp has so far completed 28 out of the 35 CSR projects we’ve promised to deliver in our 35th year and we’ve raised over £1million in our time working with charity Springboard UK.
Guests were invited for a family fun day, starting in the park’s giant Tree Tops marquee which was transformed into a VIP hospitality area with refreshments, a bar and BBQ available throughout the day. The guests had access to the park’s usual attractions including all rides and of course, toured the park reserve on the safari bus. The drpteam put on a huge production and entertainment schedule with workshops, a history of drp, a live steel band, digital and interactive activities and the Hipcats performing live on the outdoor stage.
The evening saw guests enjoy a drinks reception amongst the safari park’s dinosaur attraction before being transported to the regal Spring Grove House where a formal gala dinner and showcase finale was held, followed by the after show party.
The celebratory dinner saw drp friends and clients learn about some of the gruelling, challenging and emotional CSR projects team members have been working on throughout the year. The herculean effort of the Rickshaw Rally, the amazing YSS Conference and EVCOM Rising Star Dan Harris’ video for the NHS, revealed a truly personal and emotional drp story.
The production values for the evening entertainment were reminiscent of the main stage at Glastonbury. The finale brought together a spectacular live production show, live choir, the entire drpteam taking to the stage and an impressive fireworks display. The finale was followed by an after party in the lawn marquee complete with DJ, dancefloor and a set from drp’s very own band – ‘The Possiblers’.
